The Town of Mount Pleasant, like many desirable places to live, is facing a severe shortage of attainable housing options. The situation especially impacts municipal public servants, young professionals, seniors and native/long-time residents.
The inability of these groups, individually and collectively, to secure housing in Mount Pleasant presents challenges to the town – from increased traffic brought on by long commutes to an unraveling of community fabric when lifelong residents are priced out of their homes and more.
The newly established 501(c)(3) Housing for All – Mount Pleasant seeks to create, encourage and support the development of attainable housing that is accessible for those who work, live, or hope to live, in the town. Attainable housing options throughout Mount Pleasant include a mix of well-built single-family homes, townhome-style dwellings and apartments. The group’s focus is on individuals and families making less than 120 percent of the area’s median income.
Your contributions, which will be matched up to $10,000, will assist Housing for All – Mount Pleasant in identifying opportunities for attainable housing, advocating for attainable housing, grant writing, property purchases and more.
